Textbooks for the OOAD class:

Required: Applying UML and Patterns: An Introduction to Object-Oriented Analysis and Design and Iterative Development (3rd Edition)

Recommended: UML Distilled: A Brief Guide to the Standard Object Modeling Language (3rd Edition)

For those of you who have completed the Object-Oriented Analysis and Design class, here is a list of books you may want to consider reading:

This book has extesnive discussion of object-oriented concepts and also discusses design patterns.
Object-Oriented Analysis and Design with Applications (3rd Edition) (Addison-Wesley Object Technology Series)

If you need to convince someone (like your manager) that waterfall-cycle is not the process to use for software development, this is the book you need to read.
Software Project Secrets: Why Software Projects Fail (Expert's Voice)

This book has an interesting discussion of design patterns. Some of my students liked this book. The book has too many silly cartoons which I thought were distracting.
Head First Design Patterns (Head First)

If you need to understand object-oriented programming concepts better, I recommend the following book. The examples in the book are in Java.
The Object-Oriented Thought Process (3rd Edition) (Developer's Library)
